Weaving Community was an exhibit designed to celebrate the art of weaving in its many forms. Work on display was constructed by weaving, braiding, knotting, netting, coiling, etc. Terry Wilemon played finger-style acoustic guitar during the reception. Robin Campbell, Jim Senneff and Jay Davis also performed.

Start your New Year's Eve celebration with an art opening on Sixth Street in Alpine!  The Big Bend Arts Council is hosting an exhibit of area artists Bob Bell, Tom Curry and Alan Vannoy, December 29th through January 8th.  Meet the artists at the opening reception on December 31st from 6:00 to 10:00 pm.  Food, beverage and entertainment will be provided.
 
 
Bob Bell lives in Alpine. He has been producing well rendered drawings for 25 years.  His recent imaginative work involves figure studies, landscape and whimsy.
 
Tom Curry has been an illustrator/painter since 1977.  His work has been featured in a number of art magazines and his paintings are in art collections around the U.S. and abroad.  He has illustrated 7 children's books.  Tom has a studio in downtown Alpine.
 
Alan Vannoy has a studio in Alpine.  He has studied printmaking and book arts extensively and been featured in many galleries and juried shows.  Alan's newest work takes the form of two dimensional wall hangings, combining printmaking techniques and mixed media.

Big Bend Arts Council presents the Yuletide Gallery featuring exceptional art and fine crafts by BBAC members. The opening reception, Friday, December 2, 5 - 8pm will feature music by Jim Senneff, Cathi Travis and Cathy Neie and the Highland Home School Hand Bell Choir. Exhibiting artists include June Adler, Shelley Atwood, Lee Bayless, Palma Beckett, Terry Biegler, Virginia Brotherton, Robin Campbell, Jean Cargo, Marjie Erkkila, Carol Fairlie, Angela Fritz, Anne Goodwin, Mattie Goodwin, Margaret Hughes, Oliver Hughes, James Johnson, Mary Ann Matteson, Merrian Meriwether, Jan Moeller, Kathleen Putman, Charlotte Senneff, Jim Senneff, Gordie Sanborn, Ellen Stevens, and Bernie Zelazny. The gallery, located at 117 N. Sixth Street in Alpine, will be open extended hours for holiday shopping December 2-23, 1 - 7 pm Wednesday through Sunday or by appointment with the individual artists. Sold items may be taken by the purchaser at the time of sale. Additional art works will be added to the exhibit as individual items are sold.

$25  / square foot was the second annual gallery night fundraising show for the BBAC. Art was exhibited anonymously at 117 n. 6th street in alpine from november 11 - 19, 2005. the show culminated with the sale on a first-come, first-serve basis at 6pm, november 19.

Border Crossings, curated by Ellie Meyers, is an exhibition of artists’ interpretations and investigations into the various political, religious, and scientific intersections that are formed where boundaries, both physical and figurative, have been drawn. The artwork in the exhibition pushes the envelope between traditional and non-traditional formats.

cinco de mayo street party & painted furniture auction

We auctioned chairs that were donated by the Alpine Public Library and then painted by local artists. We featured Big Bubba's BBQ, refreshments and FREE live music by the Resonators. Over 400 hundred people came to enjoy the food, music, and artful furniture. Artist Carol Fairlie's chair received the highest bid at $700. Together, the BBAC and Alpine Library raised over $4000.
