"AFFORDABLE ART FROM THE HEART."
A new show for February has been planned. The BBAC is soliciting artwork from members with a "heart" theme, not priced over $50.00. The show is called "AFFORDABLE ART FROM THE HEART." The show will run from January 26th – March 13th with a reception February 13th from 5 – 7pm. Artwork can be brought to Ocotillo Enterprises (205 N. 5th St., Alpine) from Jan. 21st - 24th, open 1 – 5:30pm Wed through Saturday. (If you cannot come during these times, please give Judith a call at 837-5353 to arrange a time.)
The Rules: Each member may submit up to 3 pieces of art. No entry fee for members of the BBAC. The BBAC receives a 10% commission for all artwork sold. Artwork must be original and executed without supervision. Work not ready for hanging will be rejected. The show will be at Judy’s Bread and Breakfast. Since the show will be held at a restaurant that is not set up for artwork, any special display requirements must be supplied by the artist. This includes display for jewelry and necessary pedestals. Artwork must stand on its own without decorative accents. About the Reception: It is hoped that as many members as possible can attend the reception, not only those artisits displaying but everyone, so that it can also be a party and potluck for all members to get together. Participants are invited to bring a covered dish. (Check with an or Nancy, above, if you have questions.)

Call for Art
Eligibility: The Animal Instincts Show is open to all artists over age 18. All work entered must be original in concept/execution. No work done in a class or workshop under supervision is eligible. 2 and 3-D Art in the following categories is eligible: Oil or Oil Pastel; Soft Pastel; Water Media (Acrylic, Watercolor, Casein); Drawing Media (Graphite, Charcoal, Colored Pencil etc.); Other (Printmaking, Mixed Media, etc.), digital art and photography. Subject matter limited to animals. The theme of show is to reflect West Texas animals both wild and domestic and their relationship with man. Judging of artwork will be based on digital image or slide submitted. Images submitted must represent the actual work to be delivered to the gallery. Selection notifications will be mailed by September 29, 2006. BBAC reserves the right to refuse to exhibit any work it deems unacceptable due to inadequate construction (if we cannot hang or exhibit artwork safely) or significant departure from submitted image representation. BBAC decisions are final.
Sales: Work need not be for sale to be eligible for the exhibition. Works will be for sale unless noted as NFS (not for sale] on the entry form. Please indicate sale price clearly on the entry form. BBAC will make every effort to encourage sale of work available for purchase. BBAC will retain a 10% commission for all sales of work from this exhibition. This commission will benefit the Alpine Humane Society. Payment from sales will be made to the artist within 30 days after the close of the exhibition.
Entry Fee: Each entry must be accompanied by an official entry form and a check or money order made payable to BBAC (or Master Card, Visa or American Express credit card information) in the amount of :

Image Preparation: Submit up to two 300 dpi, (1500 x 1500 pixels minimum and 4200x4200 pixels maximum size.) .jpg or .pdf digital images on a CD or 35 mm slides. Only one image per artwork entered except for 3D entries. 3D entries may submit 2 images for each entry.
CD: Clearly label and mark the CD with the artist’s name and (for each work), title, media, size, and the year completed.
Slides: No glass or thick plastic mounts. No tape on outside of mounts. Clearly print information on slide: Title, size of artwork and artist’s name Indicate “Top” and place a red dot in lower left hand corner. Any images that do not meet these specifications will be disqualified and discarded without being considered by the jurors. Images should ONLY be of the artwork - do not include matting, frame, etc. in the image.
Artwork specifications:
Shipping: Artists are responsible for all shipping expenses to and from exhibition. Artwork must be shipped in sturdy reusable cartons. Work can be shipped to: BBAC, PO Box 1764, Alpine, TX 79831 or to SRSU, Fine Arts Building, Attn: Carol Fairlie, Alpine, TX 79832. Shipping insurance is recommended.
Liability: Every precaution will be taken to protect artwork. The BBAC and SRSU (Sul Ross State University) will not be responsible for artworks delivered in damaged condition.
